The Dharavi redevelopment project is a $3 billion initiative led by the Adani group to transform Asia's largest slum into modern apartments, offices, and malls.
The survey has completed 10,000 tenements via door-to-door visits, while counting has been done on more than 21,000 tenements.
The redevelopment project is expected to take seven years to complete.
Eligible residents will be offered a 350 square foot flat in the area once the project is completed, while ineligible residents will be rehoused elsewhere in Mumbai.
The residents' association, Citizen and Society Development Welfare, has lent its support to the ongoing state government-led survey of informal tenements and has asked for the master plan for the development to be disclosed first.
