DK Shivakumar Challenges HD Kumaraswamy to Open Debate on Land Deals
Real Estate:BENGALURU: Days after Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy alleged that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar would soon be jailed for misdeeds in land deals, Shivakumar has responded with a challenge. “This has to end. I am ready for an open debate. I will bring all the documents and let him get what he has,” Shivakumar declared, countering Kumaraswamy’s claims.

Shivakumar stated that this is not the first time he has faced such allegations from Kumaraswamy and his family. “Kumaraswamy wants me to go to jail. I will reply to the allegations after Dasara. I will answer in an open debate. Let him accept this and come for an open debate. Let him place documents that he has before the public,” he said.

He emphasized that only judges have the authority to send anyone to jail, and Kumaraswamy was overstepping his bounds. “Kumaraswamy is acting like a judge in my case. I will not let this slide without a proper, public discussion,” Shivakumar added.

On Kumaraswamy’s suggestion that the state government must maintain a cordial relationship with the Centre to secure more funds, Shivakumar responded positively. “Kumaraswamy is the Union Minister. The state delegation is ready to go to Delhi under his leadership. He has also expressed his willingness to create industries in the state, including in the Mandya and Ramanagara districts, and has sought our help. Our government is ready to provide all necessary assistance to set up industrial parks. We are even ready to provide permission if he sets up industries on his own land,” Shivakumar stated.

Addressing the allegation that the Bidadi Township project was motivated by real estate gains, Shivakumar firmly denied the claims. “I don’t have to learn about real estate from him. I am a Bengalurean, and all my properties are in the city. I am not an outsider who has come and bought properties in Bengaluru,” he said.

Shivakumar also refuted Kumaraswamy’s accusation of irregularities in land deals. “I haven’t fallen so low as to do such a thing. Let him get a formal complaint registered and seek an investigation. I am ready to face the law and clear my name,” he concluded.
