Eknath Shinde Claims Common Man’s Touch Earns Him Support for CM Role
Real Estate Maharashtra:Maharashtra's caretaker Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, made a significant claim on Sunday, asserting that his down-to-earth approach has earned him the support of the common man for a return to the Chief Minister's office. Speaking to reporters, Shinde emphasized his role as a common man and his understanding of the people's problems, which he believes has resonated with the masses.

After reaching Satara, Shinde experienced fever and throat pain, leading to him being put on saline on Saturday. However, he left for Thane on Sunday evening, showing his commitment to his duties despite his health concerns. When asked about the demand for him to become the Chief Minister again, Shinde said, “I was the people's Chief Minister. Actually, I used to say that I was not just the Chief Minister but the Common Man. As a common man, I understood the problems and pain suffered by the people and tried to address them. Since I worked as a common man, obviously people feel that I should become the Chief Minister.”

Shinde also reminded the BJP leadership of the successful assembly polls under his leadership and reiterated his support for any decision made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He stated, “I have already said the decision on the CM's post taken by PM Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah will be acceptable to me and the Shiv Sena, and will have my full backing.”

A senior BJP leader confirmed to news agency PTI that Devendra Fadnavis has been finalized as the Chief Minister. A BJP party meeting is scheduled for December 2 or 3 to officially declare Fadnavis as the BJP's legislature party leader. The leader emphasized that there is no lack of coordination or cooperation among the Mahayuti allies—BJP, Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. “The government will be formed as the Mahayuti has secured a full-fledged victory,” he added.

Shinde attributed the Mahayuti's landslide win to the welfare and development schemes implemented by his government. He highlighted the Ladki Bahin scheme and stipends for the youth as key initiatives. Shinde also mentioned that he is feeling better now and had come home to rest after working tirelessly for the past two and a half years, including his efforts during the assembly polls.

The Mahayuti alliance won a significant majority, securing 230 out of the total 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 132 seats, while the Shiv Sena and NCP won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
