Mehul Thakur is the owner of Viva Group, a real estate firm. He has been charged by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for defrauding Poddar Housing of ₹30 crore.
The alleged fraud involves ₹30 crore that was transferred to a joint bank account and then allegedly shifted to Viva Holdings, a company belonging to Mehul Thakur’s family.
Rohitashwa Poddar is the managing director of Poddar Housing and Development Limited. He filed a complaint with the police after discovering the fraudulent transfer of funds.
Mehul Thakur has been charged under sections 316 (criminal breach of trust), 318 (cheating), 336 (forgery), 338 (forgery of valuable security), and 34 (using forged documents or electronic records) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to trace the funds and bring the perpetrators to justice.
