Exploring Real Estate Law Opportunities: A 2025 Grad’s Dilemma
Hi everyone,
I am a 2025 graduate from a private college in Tamil Nadu. Throughout my law school journey, I developed a keen interest in Intellectual Property (IP) law, which led me to intern with several IP law firms. My internships included stints with two litigation-oriented firms, followed by internships with three IP boutique law firms and one with the commercial litigation team of a Tier 2 firm. These experiences were enriching, and I even received offers from three of the places I interned with. However, I eventually landed an Assessment Internship with Surana & Surana’s IP practice team, and I decided to take it. Unfortunately, the Tier 2 firm later informed me that they had no vacancies, despite a positive recommendation from my mentor.
After two months into the assessment, I realized that I do not want to pursue IP prosecution. This realization has left me feeling a bit lost, as I had narrowly focused on IP law throughout my academic journey. I now feel the need to explore other areas of law, particularly real estate, where I have some experience in title due diligence and drafting and vetting contracts. I also have a growing interest in corporate law, although I have no direct experience in this field.
I have been actively applying to various firms in Chennai, but my efforts have been met with rejections, mostly due to a lack of vacancies. This has been a significant setback, and I am currently at a low point mentally. I am reaching out to the community for any leads or recommendations for firms in Chennai where I can apply for an assessment or internship in real estate or corporate law. I am open to any opportunity where I can demonstrate my commitment and skills to potentially convert the role into a full-time position.
If you have any leads or suggestions, I would be incredibly grateful. Any advice or guidance would be a huge help during this challenging time. Thank you so much for your support!
Best regards, [Your Name]
