Exploring Thalapathy Vijay's Rs 600+ Crore Empire: From Film to Politics

Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay, whose party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is most likely to emerge as a single largest party in this year's elections, had recently revealed his assets worth over Rs 600 crore.

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief is contesting from the Perambur and Trichy East constituencies, marking his newly formed party’s electoral debut. Vijay has not only dominated the box office for decades but is now making waves in Tamil Nadu politics with TVK.

According to his election affidavit filed ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Vijay has declared total assets worth approximately Rs 603.20 crore, placing him among the wealthiest actor-politicians in India. The figure includes both movable and immovable assets:

Movable assets: Rs 404.58 crore Immovable assets: Rs 198.62 crore

Vijay has built his massive wealth thanks to his highly successful film career. With over three decades in Tamil cinema, Vijay remains one of India’s highest-paid actors. His key income comes from film remuneration, and he is reportedly among the highest in South Indian cinema. In the year 2024–25 alone, Vijay reported an income of Rs 184.53 crore.

In addition to film earnings, Vijay has significant income from brand endorsements, real estate investments, financial investments, and deposits. As per his affidavit, a significant portion of Vijay’s wealth lies in liquid assets like bank deposits exceeding Rs 213 crore and investments spread across multiple accounts and financial instruments.

Vijay also owns premium properties in Chennai, agricultural land in Kodaikanal, and other commercial and residential holdings. His luxury car collection includes high-end models such as BMW, Lexus, and Toyota Vellfire.

Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha, has also declared assets worth approximately Rs 15.76 crore, including both movable and immovable properties. Additionally, Vijay has extended loans and financially supported his family members and trusts.

Vijay’s financial stature complements his growing political influence. His party, TVK, has already made a strong debut in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. Vijay is no longer just a film star; he is a brand, a political force, and a financial powerhouse.
