Swapnil Dnyanoba Khutwad, a 30-year-old resident of Hatve village in Bhor taluka, was taken into custody by the Pune rural police on Thursday. According to the police, Swapnil bludgeoned the victim, 52-year-old Ganpat Genba Khutwad, with a stone before dumping his body into the riverbed.
The police investigation revealed that Swapnil had been nursing a grudge against Ganpat, who owned a fair price shop in the same village. Swapnil, who also worked as a real estate agent, suspected that Ganpat had been practicing black magic to sabotage his business. The suspicion had been building up over time, fueled by Swapnil's own financial struggles and health issues.
