The farmers gheraoed the Collector’s office to protest against the Ujjain Development Authority (UDA) for attempting to seize their agricultural land without permission.
The farmers accused the UDA of acting like land mafias, trying to forcefully occupy their land and build a colony for selling plots.
The farmers submitted their memorandum at the Brihaspati Bhavan in Ujjain, where the weekly Jan Sunwai (public hearing) takes place.
The farmers are concerned that nearly half of their land is being targeted for development under a plan they have not agreed to, and their complaints have been ignored by the UDA.
