The main reasons for the surge in cargo at Pune Airport include improved infrastructure, streamlined handling processes, and the increased movement of automobile components, perishables, e-commerce consignments, and other goods, especially during the festive season.
Pune Airport handled 4,792.5 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo in September 2025, marking a 33% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The growth in cargo is primarily driven by automobile components (30%), perishables (25%), e-commerce consignments (20%), postal and courier mail (3%), and other mixed goods (23%).
Improvements include enhanced cargo terminal facilities, upgraded warehousing capacity, and modernized infrastructure to handle higher cargo volumes efficiently and sustainably.
With the festive season at its peak, the airport expects continued momentum in cargo traffic through November, driven by increased demand for goods and improved logistics operations.
