Real Estate:The Indian real estate sector has witnessed a significant surge in foreign investments, with $3.1 billion infused into the market during the first half of 2024. This accounts for 65% of the total institutional investment, according to a report by JLL India. The total institutional investment in real estate rose by 62% to $4,760 million in January-June 2024, compared to $2,939 million in the same period last year.

The warehousing sector led the investments with a 34% share, followed closely by residential at 33% and office at 27%. The first half of 2024 saw nearly twice the number of deals compared to the same period last year, with an average deal size of $113 million.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) dominated Indian investments, amounting to $3.1 billion, which is a 65% share of the total investments in January-June 2024. In 2023, domestic investors accounted for 37% of investments, compared to an average of 19% over the previous five years. This trend appears to continue in H1 2024, with domestic investors representing a 35% share.

The report highlights the unshakeable investor confidence in India, amidst global uncertainties and the election season, exemplifying the country's robust economic growth story. The institutional investments in real estate surged to $4.8 billion in January-June this year, which already represents 81% of the total investments in 2023, which amounted to $5.8 billion.
