P Shyamababu Patro, a former executive engineer of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation, was arrested for the land fraud.
The fraud involved a total of Rs 35 lakh, with Rs 10 lakh from a woman in Gandhinagar and Rs 25 lakh from an NRI based in Australia.
During the investigation, the police seized documents from Patro, including a land sale agreement and a Rs 10 lakh bank cheque.
Two cases were filed against Patro at Berhampur Town and Gosaninuagaon police stations.
