The Ghaywal brothers, Nilesh and Sachin, are accused of seizing control of 10 flats in a privately-owned building in Kothrud, Pune, as part of an extortion racket. They are also charged with criminal intimidation, unlawful possession, and illegal possession of firearms.
The building owner alleged that Nilesh Ghaywal held a pistol to his head and issued threats before taking possession of the flats. Additionally, Bapu Kadam collected rent from the tenants and handed it over to Nilesh Ghaywal.
The investigation is being led by Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Satish Chavan under the supervision of Assistant Police Inspector (API) Ravindra Alekar.
As of October 9, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The police are still gathering evidence and identifying the remaining suspects.
The community in Kothrud is shocked by the incident and hopes for a swift resolution. The building owner's complaint has been seen as a significant step towards justice and the restoration of law and order in the area.
