The Real Estate Regulations and Development Act (RERA) is a regulatory act in India aimed at protecting the rights of homebuyers and promoting transparency and accountability in the real estate sector.
GUJRERA can issue notices, impose fines ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000, and take other legal actions as per the RERA Act to penalize developers who violate the rules.
Developers are fined for not drawing an agreement to sell if they accept more than 10% of the property price as a booking amount, as this is a mandatory requirement under Section 13(1) of the RERA Act.
Developers can be fined up to 5% of the project cost for failing to submit quarterly reports to RERA, as per Section 61 of the RERA Act.
Last year, over 800 developers were fined by RERA for various violations of the RERA Act.
