Real Estate Maharashtra:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, predicting extremely heavy rainfall in the city and its surrounding areas. The IMD has also predicted very heavy rainfall over Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on July 9, 11, 12, and 13, besides over coastal Karnataka on July 9, 12, and 13.

Arunachal Pradesh is also expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall on Tuesday, July 9, and in parts of West Bengal and Sikkim on July 10 and 11. The weather department has noted that the Monsoon trough is “active and south of its normal position in lower tropospheric levels.”

In view of the heavy rainfall predictions, all schools and colleges in Mumbai have declared a holiday for Tuesday, July 9, considering the safety of students. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has urged citizens to stay indoors and move out of their homes only if required.

The IMD has predicted very heavy rainfall over various parts of the country, including West and South Peninsular India, East and Northeast India, and Northwest and central India. Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and Northeast India over the next five days.
