The main concerns of the home buyers' forum include the ineffectiveness of RERA, delays in project completions, discrepancies in project costs, and a lack of transparency from developers.
Over 50,000 complaints are pending across various states, according to the home buyers' forum.
The forum suggests stricter penalties for non-compliance by developers, a dedicated fast-track mechanism to resolve pending complaints, and the creation of a national database of defaulting developers.
The Consumer Affairs Ministry is responsible for consumer protection and can work with state-level RERA authorities to ensure effective implementation of the regulatory framework and protect the rights of homebuyers.
