The Mahankali police in Hyderabad have arrested two women who were involved in a marriage scam, duping several elderly men and collecting large sums of money under false pretenses.

The two women arrested are K Saraswati (65) from Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh and K Swathi (40) from Kothagudem in Khammam district.
The women posed as close relatives of each other and sought marriage alliances with elderly men. Once the victims expressed interest, they collected money under the pretext of health and family issues and then disappeared.
A man from Khammam who was duped to the tune of Rs 1.8 lakh reported the incident to the police, which led to the arrest of the two women.
The police urge any other victims to come forward and file a complaint. It is also advised to exercise caution and due diligence in matters of marriage and financial transactions, especially for elderly individuals.
This case highlights the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly, from financial scams and the need for increased awareness and vigilance in the community.
