HYDRAA stands for the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency. It is a government agency set up to address urban challenges in Hyderabad, particularly concerning disaster management and the protection of public assets from illegal encroachments.
HYDRAA reclaimed approximately 2 acres of park land or nala land worth more than Rs 200 crores in Jubilee Hills.
The encroacher, a tenant, was operating hotels and hostels by encroaching upon the road and nala, generating an estimated ₹10 lakh in monthly rent.
HYDRAA issued notices to the tenant, who then challenged these notices in court. Following the court’s orders, the structures built by encroaching on the nala and road were demolished.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) plans to develop a good park on the reclaimed land to benefit the local community.
