HYDRAA Takes Strict Action Against Construction Waste Dumping in City Lakes
Real Estate News:Hyderabad: HYDRAA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority) has issued a stern warning to real estate developers, builders, transporters, and community representatives. Dumping soil or construction debris in city lakes will invite strict legal action, the authority emphasized during a high-level meeting on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath stressed the ecological importance of lakes and stated that any attempt to fill them with soil will lead to criminal cases, backed by evidence. “There will be constant surveillance on the lakes. Builders cannot escape liability by blaming contractors. If anyone dumps soil, we will take legal action against the contractor, driver, vehicle owner, and the construction company,” he warned.

HYDRAA has also advised that even filling soil on private (Sikham) lands is not allowed. Officials clarified that cost-cutting attempts by dumping debris on lake beds or nearby areas would result in the seizure of vehicles and booking of cases under criminal sections.

A dedicated HYDRAA police station has been set up to register cases against violators. The department has implemented 24x7 monitoring at lake sites to prevent illegal dumping.

HYDRAA seeks public support in this initiative. Residents are urged to report any instances of soil dumping in lakes. A special helpline number — 9000113667 — has been provided to report such incidents. Citizens can also file complaints via HYDRA’s official Twitter account. The public is encouraged to share videos or images of dump trucks, tippers, tractors, or JCBs involved in illegal activity.

HYDRAA called for active participation from colony welfare associations, college students, and NGOs to safeguard the city’s water bodies. The authority is committed to maintaining the ecological balance and ensuring the health and well-being of the city’s residents.
