IHCL Expands in Pune: New Gateway Hotel Set to Open in Bibvewadi

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new hotel in Pune under the Gateway brand, continuing its expansion in urban growth centres. The upcoming hotel will be developed in Bibvewadi, an area witnessing increased commercial activity and infrastructure upgrades.

The 180-key hotel, to be named Gateway Bibvewadi Pune, is part of a larger mixed-use development and is positioned close to the city centre. It will feature an all-day diner, a specialty restaurant, a bar, and leisure amenities including a gym and a swimming pool. With approximately 4,000 square feet of banqueting space alongside smaller meeting rooms and pre-function areas, the hotel aims to serve a mix of corporate and social gatherings.

Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said, “Pune, a key city in the state of Maharashtra, has a diversified industrial and service sector presence with IT, pharma, and auto manufacturing. Bibvewadi, an emerging micro-market in the city, is witnessing rapid growth driven by infrastructure and commercial development as well as its proximity to educational and residential hubs. This signing aligns with our strategy of expanding IHCL’s footprint in high-growth urban clusters.”

Pune continues to strengthen its position as a regional hub with a combination of economic and educational drivers. Often referred to as the ‘Oxford of the East’, the city has seen steady hospitality growth owing to sustained demand from both domestic and business travellers. The Gateway hotel in Bibvewadi adds to IHCL’s expanding presence in Maharashtra and reinforces its focus on midscale and upscale offerings in secondary city markets.
