Indian Real Estate Market Sees Surge in Foreign Investment in H1 2024
Real Estate:India's real estate market has witnessed a significant influx of foreign investment in the first half of 2024. According to a report by JLL India, foreign investors infused $3.1 billion in Indian real estate between January and June 2024, accounting for 65% of the total institutional investment.

The total institutional investment in real estate rose 62% to $4.76 billion in January-June 2024, compared to $2.93 billion in the same period last year. This surge in investment is a testament to the country's robust economic growth story, despite global uncertainties and the election season.

The warehousing sector led the way, accounting for 34% of investments, followed closely by residential (33%) and office (27%) segments. The number of deals nearly doubled in the first half of 2024, with an average deal size of $113 million.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) dominated the investment landscape, accounting for $3.1 billion, or 65% of the total investments in January-June 2024. Domestic investors, on the other hand, represented a 35% share of investments.

In contrast, another property consultant, Colliers India, reported a 6% decline in total institutional investment in real estate at $3.52 billion during the first half of 2024, compared to $3.76 billion in the year-ago period.
