The neighbourhood was renamed to 'Hero Chi Wadi' (which translates to 'neighbourhood of a hero') to honor Irrfan Khan's significant contributions and the deep bond he shared with the local community in Igatpuri, Nashik district, Maharashtra.
Irrfan Khan donated an ambulance, provided computers, books, and clothing for local children, and funded the construction of school buildings. He also welcomed villagers into his home, fostering a sense of community through shared meals and conversations.
Irrfan Khan passed away in April 2020 after battling a neuroendocrine tumour.
