The main focus of the IT department's raids is to uncover financial irregularities, including suspected tax evasion and fund diversion through cash transactions.
The raids are targeting Caps Gold Private Limited and the Vasavi Group of companies, including their associated real estate firms.
The key individuals being investigated include the directors of Caps Gold, such as Chanda Narsimha Rao, Chanda Venkatesh, Sreenivas Rao Chanda, and Abhishek Chanda.
IT teams have reportedly found evidence of large-scale fund diversion through cash transactions and the supply of bullion to jewelry merchants and shops.
The ED is closely monitoring the developments and may register an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) if the case attracts provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
