Real Estate:JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Real Estate Authority (JKRERA) has launched a significant crackdown on illegal real estate colonies in Kathua and Udhampur districts. The inspections were conducted in the presence of Tehsildar Kathua and Naib Tehsildars Udhampur, respectively. During these inspections, several colonies in Kathua and Udhampur were thoroughly examined, including Rakh Badali, Ballian, and Kallar in Udhampur, as well as Taraf Tajwal, Taraf Manjli, Chak Diwan Kirpa Ram, and Rakh Sarkar Plahi in Kathua.

Tehsildar Kathua was instructed to provide detailed revenue records of the inspected colonies. Notices were issued to the defaulters, directing them to register with JKRERA. The revenue staff in both Udhampur and Kathua districts have been instructed to ensure that developers register their real estate projects with JKRERA before engaging in any advertising, marketing, booking, selling, or offering for sale of any plot, apartment, or building in any planning area. This registration is mandatory under Section 3 of the JKRERA Act and must be completed prior to any such activities.

Speaking on this, Chairperson JKRERA Satish Chandra emphasized, “Our aim is to promote transparency and accountability in the real estate sector, protect consumer rights, and ensure planned development in accordance with the Unified Building Bye-laws (UBBLs).” He further stated that these inspections will help curb the growth of illegal colonies that lack basic facilities. Deputy Secretary, JKRERA Esha Chib, and Naib Tehsildar JKRERA Gias-ud-Din were among the officials who conducted the inspection.
