J&K Police Tighten Noose on Terrorists: Rs 70 Lakh Property Attached

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir police have taken a significant step in their fight against terrorism by attaching immovable property worth nearly Rs 70 lakh belonging to a terrorism accused believed to be residing in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). A police spokesperson announced on Sunday that the action targeted Mohammed Jahangir of Kalaban village in Jammu region’s Poonch district. Jahangir is charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The police identified and attached over 2 acres of land in Kalaban that is registered under Jahangir’s name.

This operation highlights the J&K police's commitment to choking off the financial and logistical support systems of terrorist networks. On August 30, the police seized assets belonging to Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen handler Mohammed Azam, who is involved in multiple terrorism-related cases. Similarly, on June 24, property belonging to Mohammad Shafiq of Kadwah, who is currently under judicial custody for terrorism-linked offenses, was attached.

In May, the police took similar action against Mohammad Riyaz, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative who crossed into Pakistan and now coordinates as a handler. Riyaz is wanted in several ongoing investigations. These actions demonstrate the police's determination to dismantle the financial infrastructure of terrorist organizations.
