The Jammu and Kashmir Real Estate Authority (JKRERA) is a regulatory body established under the Jammu and Kashmir Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. Its primary role is to regulate the real estate sector, protect the rights of homebuyers, and promote a fair and transparent market.
The inspections are being conducted to ensure compliance with the JKRERA Act, promote transparency in the real estate sector, protect consumer rights, and curb the growth of illegal colonies lacking basic facilities.
Notices are issued to defaulters, directing them to register their real estate projects with JKRERA. The revenue staff of the respective districts are also instructed to ensure that developers register their projects before engaging in any real estate activities.
The JKRERA Act is significant because it mandates that all real estate projects be registered with JKRERA before any activities such as advertising, marketing, booking, selling, or inviting persons to purchase any plot, apartment, or building in any planning area. This ensures transparency and accountability in the real estate sector.
JKRERA contributes to the development of Jammu and Kashmir by ensuring that all real estate projects are registered and comply with the regulations. This protects the interests of consumers, promotes sustainable development, and ensures that the real estate market operates within the legal framework.
