Kaplan Reveals Insights from First-Ever Real Estate Trends Survey
Real Estate:FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., October 03 — Kaplan Real Estate Education has unveiled its first-ever Real Estate Survey of Trends, providing a comprehensive look at the experiences and perspectives of professionals in the real estate industry. This survey, conducted between May and June 2025, gathers insights from 750 licensed real estate agents, reflecting the industry's evolving landscape influenced by market dynamics, changing client expectations, and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

Client Growth: Nearly half (48 percent) of the real estate professionals surveyed anticipate expanding their client base within the next 6 to 12 months. This optimism is bolstered by the potential for interest rates to stabilize and decline, making the market more attractive for buyers and sellers. However, 44 percent expect their client base to remain the same, while only 8 percent predict a reduction in clients.

Competition: The agents surveyed were divided on the potential impact of an economic downturn on their business. One-third (32 percent) are concerned that an influx of new real estate agents, often a result of job losses in other industries during a recession, will intensify competition for new clients. Conversely, 41 percent are not worried about this scenario, and the remaining 27 percent are unsure.

Career Longevity: The majority of respondents (77 percent) plan to stay in the real estate industry over the next three to five years, with 42 percent saying definitely and 35 percent saying probably. However, nearly one-quarter of agents are considering leaving the field. Factors such as retirement, income instability, burnout, and economic uncertainty are driving these considerations.

AI Adoption: Despite the growing buzz around AI's potential to transform the real estate sector, nearly half (46 percent) of the agents surveyed are not using AI in their professional work. Among those who do use AI, the most common applications are social media content creation, email marketing, and administrative tasks.

Digital Deficit: The slow adoption of AI is partly attributed to the perception that traditional brokerages are not adequately preparing agents for the technology-driven future of real estate. Fifty-two percent of agents agree with this statement, while only 15 percent disagree, and 33 percent are neutral.

Toby Schifsky, vice president of Kaplan Real Estate Education, commented, “The real estate industry is changing at an unprecedented pace, driven by innovation, rising consumer demands, and fluctuating market conditions. Our inaugural Real Estate Survey of Trends underscores that success today requires more than just passing exams. It demands continuous learning, market expertise, and strong client skills. Kaplan is committed to equipping agents with the tools and training needed to leverage AI, generate leads, and thrive, turning industry change into opportunity and sustainable career growth.”
