Karnataka Real Estate Appellate Tribunal to Get Chairperson and Judicial Member in Two Weeks
Real Estate News:The Karnataka government has informed the High Court that it will appoint a Chairperson and Judicial member to the Karnataka Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (REAT) within two weeks. The tribunal has been non-functional due to the vacant posts.

The Advocate General, Shashi Kiran Shetty, assured the court that the concerned files have been cleared after suitable recommendations and the appointments will be made in the next two weeks.

The assurance was given while hearing a petition filed by Parkway Homes by SJR Prime Corp Apartment Owner's Association. The association had approached the court seeking an extension of the interim order of no coercive action against them, which was granted earlier.

A single judge bench of Justice M Nagaprasanna was informed by the counsel for the petitioner that the court had disposed of the petition and granted an interim order allowing it to approach the Appellate Tribunal under the Act, to challenge the order passed by RERA. The relief granted was for a period of 12 weeks, which had ended.

However, till now, only an administrative member has been appointed at the Appellate Tribunal. The court had called upon the Advocate General to apprise about the appointment.

The court recorded the submission made by the Advocate General and extended the interim protection order in favour of the petitioners by another four weeks.
