Kitchen Fittings Worker Creates Fake Online Profile of Woman, Demands Payment
Real Estate Pune:A 34-year-old woman from Ghorpadi has filed a complaint against a kitchen fitting worker for creating her fake online profile and posting lewd messages after a dispute over payment.

The woman, who works with a private company, said she hired the services of the worker and a colleague for kitchen trolley fitting works in her flat in Hinjewadi. However, a dispute arose over the payment for the work done.

According to the woman's complaint, the worker morphed her photos to create a fake profile in her name on a social media platform and posted vulgar content on it on August 8. The Hinjewadi police on Saturday registered a case for offences under sections 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 78 (stalking) and 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.

The police officer handling the case said that the woman had earlier paid Rs 42,000 for the work the duo completed. However, the worker was insisting that the woman pay him the pending amount of Rs 6,000 for the work done by his colleague. The woman, however, wanted to pay the person who had done the work.

The officer added that the worker did not like this and shared a profile picture of the woman with a real estate agent in Hinjewadi, accompanied by lewd messages about her. He also created a fake social media profile of the woman with some obscene posts and shared a screenshot with her husband. The worker demanded the remaining payment and threatened the husband about posting more such photos online.

The case has been transferred to the Mundhwa police for further investigation.
