Krisala and Hiranandani Plant 1,045 Trees in a Minute at Pune Township
Krisala Developers and Hiranandani Communities planted 1,045 trees within a minute at their integrated township project in North Hinjawadi, Pune, on World Environment Day. This large-scale plantation drive was part of the NAREDCO Pune Urban Forest Initiative, aimed at enhancing urban green cover and environmental sustainability. The event drew participation from more than 1,000 individuals, including policymakers, government officials, industry representatives, environmental advocates, channel partners, customers, employees, and local residents.
Several prominent figures attended the programme, including Dr Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of Hiranandani Communities; Maharashtra Education Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil; Omprakash Agarwal, Founder of Krisala Developers; Sagar Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Krisala Developers; Aakash Agarwal, Managing Director of Krisala Developers; Vishal Agarwal, Joint Managing Director of Krisala Developers; Bharat Agarwal, Founder of Kasturi Housing; and BJYM State President Anup Avinash More. Senior government officials, members of NAREDCO, and representatives from the real estate sector were also present.
According to the developers, the plantation initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate environmental considerations into township planning and long-term community development. The newly planted trees are expected to contribute to increasing green cover, improving biodiversity, reducing dust levels, and mitigating urban heat island effects. The plantations are also expected to support healthier outdoor environments as the township continues to develop.
A key component of the initiative is a partnership with the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). This collaboration will help establish a scientific framework for evaluating the environmental impact of the project over time. Through this partnership, various sustainability indicators, including green cover density, carbon sequestration potential, biodiversity enhancement, thermal comfort, and air quality-related parameters, will be monitored and assessed.
The developers stated that the framework is intended to provide measurable outcomes for sustainability initiatives rather than relying solely on stated environmental objectives. By tracking performance indicators over the long term, the township aims to create a data-driven approach to environmental management and urban greening.
Speaking at the event, Sagar Agarwal emphasized that sustainability remains a core principle guiding the company's development strategy. He noted that the plantation drive reflected a collective effort involving industry stakeholders, government bodies, and local communities. He added that responsible urban growth requires balancing development with environmental stewardship.
The event also served as a community engagement platform, encouraging participants to contribute actively towards environmental conservation. Through the initiative, Krisala Developers and Hiranandani Communities aim to promote sustainable and future-ready residential environments that integrate ecological considerations into long-term urban planning and community development.
