KT Rama Rao Challenges Turncoat MLAs to Face By-Elections
HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday issued a bold challenge to turncoat MLAs, daring them to resign and seek reelection. “If they have the guts, let them resign and contest in bypolls,” he declared, addressing a gathering of pink party workers from the Serilingampally Assembly segment.
Rama Rao questioned the resolve of Revanth Reddy, a prominent figure in the political landscape. “Does Revanth Reddy have the courage to face bypolls?” he asked, emphasizing the need for public accountability. The BRS leader further challenged the chief minister to encourage the defected MLAs to resign if they truly believed they had the support of the people.
“Revanth should present the details of his 20-month rule to the people and face by-elections as a referendum on his governance,” he asserted. Rama Rao also referred to the recent Supreme Court order, which has struck fear into the hearts of MLAs who switched loyalties. He alleged that these defections were driven by personal and political gain, rather than a commitment to the welfare of the people.
Alleging that the Congress government was misusing HYDRAA’s task force to intimidate people, Rama Rao criticized the impact of HYDRAA’s unlawful activities on Hyderabad’s real estate sector. “It is because of HYDRAA’s unlawful activities that Hyderabad’s real estate sector has collapsed,” he said. He further questioned the integrity of HYDRAA officials, asking, “Do HYDRAA officials have the courage to demolish the illegal house built by Revanth Reddy’s brother Tirupati Reddy in the Durgam Cheruvu FTL zone?”
Meanwhile, Rama Rao welcomed the announcement by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman that the company will open its first office in India, with Hyderabad being the chosen location. He highlighted Hyderabad’s unique strengths as an innovation hub and recalled how successive governments in Telangana have worked towards making the state the ‘AI capital of India’.
“This city offers India’s most vibrant innovation ecosystem, including THub, WEHub, TWorks, and the Telangana State Innovation Cell. It’s the preferred hub for global tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta, Apple, Qualcomm, and many more,” Rama Rao said, pitching Hyderabad as an ideal destination for OpenAI’s operations.
