KTR Accuses Congress of Real Estate Broker Tactics in MANUU Land Dispute
Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharatiya Rajya Sabha (BRS), has pledged his party’s support to the students of the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) who are protesting against the state government’s attempt to take over 50 acres of university land. KTR accused the Congress government of acting like a real estate broker and targeting the land of educational institutions in the city.
The students met KTR at his residence on Friday to express their concerns over the government's plans to reclaim the land. KTR, speaking to the media following the meeting, said that the government was behaving like a 'serial land snatcher.' He highlighted that the Congress government had previously attempted to reclaim 400 acres from the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and the Agriculture University, and was now eyeing 50 acres of MANUU land.
KTR emphasized that MANUU is the country's only exclusive Urdu university and a symbol of pride for Hyderabad. He alleged that the government’s actions were deliberately weakening the institution for real estate interests. He further stated that the Congress government's aim was to use the land for its real estate needs, a practice that has become a habit for the government.
Despite the Supreme Court halting the UoH land case and making observations on a 10,000-crore land scam, neither the central nor the state government has taken any action to investigate the issue. KTR argued that if the central government had acted firmly, the state government would not have dared to target another central university like MANUU.
KTR assured the students that the issue would be raised in Parliament and promised that a future BRS government would allocate funds for the university's expansion and infrastructure development. He emphasized the importance of protecting educational institutions and ensuring their future growth and development.
The BRS, known for its strong stance on educational and land rights, has a history of supporting such causes. The party’s commitment to addressing the concerns of students and educational institutions is a key aspect of its political agenda. KTR’s support for the MANUU students is seen as a significant move to garner public support and highlight the alleged mismanagement by the current government.
The ongoing land dispute at MANUU is not just a local issue but has broader implications for the protection of educational institutions and the integrity of public land. KTR’s intervention and the BRS’s support have brought the issue to the forefront, emphasizing the need for transparent and accountable governance.
