Mumbai Land Dispute Escalates: 41 Arrests After Security Guard Fires Gun

According to Agripada police, a plot of land on the Bapurao Jagtap Marg near Jacob Circle in Agripada has been a subject of dispute between a real estate company and a pharmaceutical company. The conflict escalated on Saturday night around 10 PM when security agencies hired by both companies got into a heated altercation. The police said a lower court had initially ruled in favor of the real estate company, but the Bombay High Court had recently sought a status quo on the matter after the pharmaceutical company filed an appeal. This legal tug-of-war set the stage for the violent confrontation. As per the police, the guards and bouncers belonging to the pharmaceutical company allegedly sprayed pepper spray on the guards of the real estate company and threw stones at them. When the two groups came face-to-face, the situation intensified. It was alleged that one of the bouncers from the pharmaceutical company, who had a licensed double-barrel gun, fired a round in the direction of the rival security guards. This act of violence prompted the rival guards to call the police control room. A police team promptly arrived at the scene and took the accused to the Agripada police station. An FIR was registered against them, and a total of 41 persons from the security agency representing the pharmaceutical company were arrested. They were subsequently produced before the court and remanded to police custody for a day. An officer from the Agripada police station mentioned that the real estate company had previously registered an FIR against the pharmaceutical company officials earlier this year. This was after the pharmaceutical company refused to vacate the plot despite a court ruling in favor of the real estate company. The ongoing dispute has now taken a dangerous turn, highlighting the need for a swift and fair resolution to the legal battle. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of the area, as well as the need for better regulation and oversight of security agencies. The Agripada police are continuing their investigations to ensure justice is served and to prevent further violence from erupting.
