Maha-Metro Teams Up with Realty Brokers to Lease Business Spaces at Stations
Real Estate Mumbai:Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) is set to collaborate with real estate brokers to lease properties at selected stations, with the aim of generating revenue through property business spaces. The move is expected to provide a boost to the local economy, while also enhancing the overall passenger experience.

The corporation plans to lease small (less than 100 sqm) and large property business spaces (more than 100 sqm) on a long-term basis. As part of this initiative, Maha-Metro has floated a tender on September 1, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for Monday.

According to Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director (Administration and Public Relations) at Maha-Metro, the corporation has shared details of the tender on its website, and applicants are also welcome to conduct on-site visits. The lease period is expected to be nine years, with six spaces initially up for bid. There are 24 large spaces and two independent property development (PD) floors at metro stations available for lease.

The activities allowed at licensed premises will be governed by Maha-Metro, with permitted businesses including departmental stores, discount stores, daily needs shops, retail and general stores. Restaurants and fast food stalls are allowed, but only electric-based reheating will be permitted. Other allowed facilities include offices, i-banks, e-lounges, coaching and computer training centers, clinics, salons, gyms, healthcare facilities, legally approved entertainment and gaming, showrooms for consumer goods, ATMs, and vending machines.

The partnership with real estate brokers is expected to attract a range of businesses to the metro stations, providing passengers with a convenient and enjoyable experience. With 38 small and 24 large property business spaces available at 23 metro stations, Maha-Metro is confident that this initiative will contribute significantly to the growth of the local economy.

In addition to generating revenue, the leasing of property business spaces is also expected to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the metro stations. With a range of businesses set to operate at the stations, passengers can look forward to a more vibrant and engaging environment.

As Maha-Metro continues to work towards providing a world-class metro system, the partnership with real estate brokers is a significant step forward. By leveraging the expertise of real estate professionals, the corporation is well-positioned to maximize the potential of its property business spaces and create a thriving ecosystem at its metro stations.
