The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to hold assembly polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand after Diwali.
The parties have halted their seat-sharing discussions due to the uncertainty created by the delayed polls, prompting aspiring candidates to begin their own preparations.
The delayed polls have given aspirants more time to prepare and has also led to a rise in the number of rebels in various parties.
The BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena are likely to be affected by the rebels, as they have a large number of aspirants who are ready to contest as independents or rebel candidates.
The election is expected to be uncertain with too many contestants and the votes getting fragmented, making it difficult for any party to win a clear majority.
