The seven villages being considered for inclusion into the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) are Hinjawadi, Maan, Marunji, Nere, Jambe, Sangavade, and Gahunje.
The demand is due to rapid industrial and IT development leading to a population surge and strain on basic civic services. Inclusion in PCMC would ensure better urban planning and infrastructure.
BJP’s Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap has been actively pushing for this inclusion, submitting a formal memorandum to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
Benefits include streamlined urban planning, faster decision-making, improved transportation, better civic amenities, enhanced support for industries, and increased government revenue.
The resolution to include these villages in PCMC was first passed by the PCMC in 2018 and submitted to the state government.
