Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Visits Vishalgad Fort After Riots, Assures Compensation to Victims
Real Estate Maharashtra:In the aftermath of the recent violence that erupted in Vishalgad Fort, Kolhapur, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar paid a visit to the area on Thursday. The violence, which occurred on July 14, was sparked by the demolition of illegal structures, and saw a mob identifying as 'Shivaji Maharaj's Lovers' attack a local mosque and damage homes in the area.

During his visit, Pawar met with victims of the violence and listened to their grievances. He was accompanied by the superintendent of police and the collector. The district administration has provided Rs 50,000 each as compensation to the victims, with a proposed total of Rs 2.85 Cr.

Pawar assured the residents that no houses would be damaged during the anti-encroachment drive, stating that action is being taken against commercial establishments that have been encroached upon. He also visited the base of Vishalgad and Gajapur, inspecting the area where the violence had occurred.

However, not everyone was pleased with Pawar's visit. Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan criticized Pawar, saying that action against the rioters is more important than 'doing a show before the victims.' Chavan alleged that the BJP's policy is to create riots in order to win elections, and that caste polarization must stop in Maharashtra.

Earlier, state Congress president Nana Patole and NCP (SP) state chief Jayant Patil had condemning the riot, with Patole alleging that there was a conspiracy to instigate riots on the pretext of encroachment removal. Patil sought action against those behind the riots.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern, with many calling for action to be taken against those responsible. As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear the people of Maharashtra deserve peace and justice, and it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure that they receive it.
