Deputy CM Eknath Shinde has directed the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) to file complaints with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and register cases against the builders and associates involved in constructing 65 unauthorized buildings.
The Bombay High Court declared these buildings illegal because they were constructed using fake RERA certificates, which put thousands of families at risk of eviction.
The KDMC is exploring legal solutions to provide relief to the affected residents. Awareness campaigns, display boards, and updated lists of authorized buildings on the official website are also being implemented to prevent future fraud and protect citizens.
The KDMC will launch public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the importance of verifying the authenticity of RERA certificates and other legal documents. They will also display information about authorized buildings and update the official website regularly.
The Bombay High Court's decision to declare the 65 buildings illegal highlights the widespread issue of unauthorized constructions in the region. It is expected to deter other developers from engaging in similar fraudulent practices and restore trust in the real estate sector.
