Maharashtra Govt and Lodha Developers Sign ₹30,000 Crore MoU for Green Data Centre in Palava
Real Estate:The Maharashtra government has entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lodha Developers Ltd to develop a Green Integrated Data Centre Park in Palava. This ambitious project, with a proposed investment of ₹30,000 crore, aims to position Maharashtra as a leading hub for sustainable, large-scale data centre operations.

The park will be spread across 370 acres in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and will have a planned capacity of 2 gigawatts. It is designed to host multiple leading international and domestic players in the data centre industry. The initiative is expected to create nearly 6,000 direct and indirect jobs, with Lodha Developers acting as the master developer while various data centre operators set up their facilities within the park.

This development comes a year after Maharashtra introduced its Green Integrated Data Centre Parks policy in October 2024. The policy mandates that data centres, known for their high energy consumption, must run on renewable and alternative energy sources. As part of the programme, three such parks will be established across MMR to meet the growing demand for digital infrastructure fueled by cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the rapid adoption of digital services.

Maharashtra had earlier declared data centres a “thrust area” for industrial growth back in 2019, underscoring its commitment to attracting investments into this sector. The latest partnership with Lodha Developers strengthens that vision while aligning with India’s broader sustainability goals.

Abhishek Lodha, MD & CEO of Lodha Developers Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “The Green Integrated Data Centre Parks policy will not only create employment opportunities and boost the economy but will also operate on clean and green energy sources, benefiting generations. At Lodha, we are aiming for net zero across our operations in the coming years and are committed to the success of this initiative.”

The MoU underscores Maharashtra’s ambition to emerge as a global destination for data centre investments by combining industrial growth with sustainability, ensuring the state stays ahead in the digital economy. This project is a significant step towards achieving a greener and more technologically advanced future for the state and the country as a whole.

Lodha Developers, a leading real estate company in India, has a strong track record of delivering large-scale projects. The company is committed to sustainable development and has been at the forefront of integrating green practices into its projects. The Green Integrated Data Centre Park in Palava is a testament to their commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
