Maharashtra Govt Launches Dr. Zakir Hussain Madrasa Modernization Scheme
Real Estate Maharashtra:Pune, 3rd November 2025: The Minority Development Department of the Maharashtra Government has launched the “Dr. Zakir Hussain Madrasa Modernization Scheme” to upgrade and modernize madrasas across the state. This initiative aims to enhance the educational infrastructure and curriculum in these institutions, ensuring they meet modern standards.

Alongside this, the department has also announced provisions to extend grants to government-recognized private schools, junior colleges, industrial training institutes (ITIs), and schools for the differently-abled that have a significant proportion of students from religious minority communities. These grants are intended to support these institutions in providing quality education and better facilities to their students.

Both schemes will be implemented during the financial year 2025–26. Eligible madrasas and educational institutions serving minority students have been urged to submit their proposals in the prescribed government format. The last date for submitting proposals to the District Collector’s Office is November 14, 2025. The District Collector’s Office must then forward all received proposals to the concerned authorities by November 15, 2025.

This information was shared through a press release issued by the District Planning Officer. The initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to ensure inclusive and equitable education for all students, particularly those from minority communities. By modernizing madrasas and extending financial support to other educational institutions, the government aims to bridge the educational gap and provide better opportunities for minority students.

The Dr. Zakir Hussain Madrasa Modernization Scheme is named after the former President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain, who was a strong advocate for education and social reform. This scheme is expected to benefit a large number of students and teachers, improving the overall quality of education in madrasas and other minority institutions.

The Minority Development Department has been proactive in implementing various programs and schemes to uplift minority communities. These efforts are in line with the government's commitment to promoting social harmony and ensuring that all sections of society have access to quality education and resources.

For further details and to download the application forms, interested institutions can visit the official website of the Maharashtra Government’s Minority Development Department. The department has also set up helplines and dedicated email addresses to assist institutions with any queries related to the application process.

This initiative is a significant step towards modernizing the educational landscape in Maharashtra and ensuring that minority students have the same opportunities as their peers from other communities. The government hopes that these measures will not only improve the educational outcomes for minority students but also contribute to the overall development of the state.
