Maharashtra Govt, Lodha Developers Ink ₹30,000 Crore Deal for Green Data Centre Park in Palava
Real Estate News:The Maharashtra government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lodha Developers Ltd to develop a Green Integrated Data Centre Park in Palava. This project, with a proposed investment of ₹30,000 crore, marks a significant step in the state’s digital infrastructure expansion. The park will be spread across 370 acres in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and is designed to host multiple leading international and domestic players.

The development aims to create nearly 6,000 direct and indirect jobs. Lodha Developers will act as the master developer, while various data centre operators will set up their facilities within the park. The project is part of Maharashtra's broader strategy to position itself as a hub for sustainable, large-scale data centre operations.

The initiative comes a year after Maharashtra introduced its Green Integrated Data Centre Parks policy in October 2024. The policy mandates that data centres, known for their high energy consumption, run on renewable and alternative energy sources. As part of the programme, three such parks will be established across MMR to meet the growing demand for digital infrastructure driven by cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the rapid adoption of digital services.

Maharashtra had earlier declared data centres a “thrust area” for industrial growth back in 2019, underscoring its commitment to attract investments in this sector. The latest partnership with Lodha Developers strengthens that vision while aligning with India’s broader sustainability goals.

Abhishek Lodha, MD & CEO of Lodha Developers Ltd, emphasized the company’s focus on green growth. “The Green Integrated Data Centre Parks policy will not only create employment opportunities and boost the economy but will also operate on clean and green energy sources, benefiting future generations. At Lodha, we are aiming for net zero across our operations in the coming years and are committed to the success of this initiative,” he said.

The MoU underscores Maharashtra’s ambition to emerge as a global destination for data centre investments by combining industrial growth with sustainability, ensuring the state stays ahead in the digital economy. This project is expected to significantly enhance the state's digital infrastructure and contribute to its economic development while promoting environmental sustainability.
