The new policy approved by the Maharashtra cabinet waives the requirement for individual resident consent for the integrated and cluster redevelopment of MHADA colonies measuring 20 acres or more.
The policy offers the highest possible rehabilitation Floor Space Index (FSI) and promises modern amenities, including well-equipped residential units, elevators, parking areas, parks, community halls, playgrounds, gyms, swimming pools, and CCTV facilities.
The policy affects 56 MHADA colonies in Mumbai and its suburbs, which are home to approximately 5,000 cooperative housing societies.
Developers selected through the tender process will still need to secure a consent resolution from the respective housing societies, ensuring community involvement in the redevelopment efforts.
The new approach to slum cluster development, approved by the Maharashtra government's cabinet, applies to areas exceeding 50 acres and aims to address the housing needs of slum dwellers more effectively and efficiently.
