Maharashtra Housing Federation Aims to Boost Graduate Voter Registration
The Maharashtra State Cooperative Housing Society and Apartments Federation is collaborating with electoral authorities to enhance online voter registration for graduate and teacher's constituency elections.

Federation chairman Suhas Patwardhan stated that MSCHAF represents over 1.26 lakh cooperative housing societies and two lakh apartment condominiums, with more than five crore members across Maharashtra. In a letter to the commissioner, the federation proposed a comprehensive collaboration with various civic and social organizations to raise awareness before the November 6 deadline for voter registration.
The proposed collaboration includes working with citizen groups, IT associations, MSMEs, Rotary and Lions Clubs, NGOs, and educational institutions. The federation also suggested that municipal bodies, gram panchayats, and MSEDCL send SMS alerts to property holders eligible as graduate voters. This initiative aims to ensure that all eligible voters are aware of the registration process and can participate in the upcoming elections.
Patwardhan highlighted the federation's past support to the Election Commission during Lok Sabha and Assembly polls and expressed readiness to extend similar assistance this year. 'We can leverage our extensive network across housing societies and apartments to reach voters efficiently and ensure a high voter turnout,' he said.
Election officials confirmed that the online registration system for graduate constituencies was activated to simplify the process and encourage wider participation. Ravindra Sinha, convenor of Citizens for Area Sabha, welcomed the move but emphasized the need for broader outreach. 'More publicity about the registration link is needed. Political parties should also actively spread awareness to maximize voter registration,' he stated.
The collaboration between MSCHAF and electoral authorities is expected to significantly enhance voter awareness and participation, contributing to the democratic process in Maharashtra.
