An Occupation Certificate is a mandatory document issued by the municipal corporation, certifying that a building has been constructed according to approved plans and is fit for habitation.
Many housing societies lack OCs due to non-compliance with building regulations, technical deviations, or incomplete legal formalities.
The amnesty scheme aims to simplify the OC acquisition process, allowing societies to regularise their buildings even if they lack a conveyance deed or a completion certificate, and to pay a premium for minor violations.
The scheme will unlock financial security and property rights for homeowners by making it easier to obtain home loans and approvals for redevelopment projects.
The detailed Government Resolution (GR) for the amnesty scheme is expected to be issued in the first week of October.
