Real Estate Maharashtra:Maharashtra has emerged as the state with the highest number of passenger and commercial vehicles sold in the September quarter of the fiscal year 2025-26. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh topped the charts in the two- and three-wheeler categories during the same period, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

In the second quarter of the current fiscal year (Q2 FY26), a total of 10.39 lakh units of passenger vehicles were sold across India. The western zone led the sales with 3.44 lakh units. In the passenger vehicles segment, Maharashtra recorded sales of 1,31,822 units, representing a 12.7 percent share of the market. Uttar Pradesh followed with 1,00,481 units (9.7 percent), and Gujarat came in third with 87,901 units (8.5 percent).

Karnataka was fourth with 76,422 units (7.4 percent), and Kerala was fifth with 69,609 units (6.7 percent), as per the data provided by SIAM.

In the commercial vehicles category, 2.40 lakh units were sold across India during the second quarter of the fiscal year. The western zone again led the sales with 92,000 units. Maharashtra topped the list with 37,091 units, accounting for 15.5 percent of the market share. Gujarat followed with 22,491 units (9.4 percent), and Uttar Pradesh was third with 19,009 units (7.9 percent).

Tamil Nadu was fourth with 18,508 units (7.7 percent), and Karnataka was fifth with 16,743 units (7 percent).

In the two-wheeler segment, a total of 55.62 lakh units were sold in Q2 FY26, with the western zone leading the sales with 19.33 lakh units. Uttar Pradesh topped the chart with 6,92,869 units, representing a 12.5 percent market share. Maharashtra followed with 6,29,131 units (11.3 percent), and Gujarat was third with 4,45,722 units (8 percent).

Tamil Nadu was fourth with 3,98,618 units (7.2 percent) of two-wheelers sold, and Rajasthan was fifth with 3,60,966 units (6.5 percent).

The data highlights the strong performance of the western region in vehicle sales, particularly in Maharashtra, which has consistently been a leader in both passenger and commercial vehicle segments. This trend is indicative of the robust economic activities and high demand for vehicles in these regions.
