Kokate referred to the government as a 'beggar' while trying to clarify his earlier controversial statements about farmers, saying, 'The government doesn't give Re 1 to farmers, it takes Re 1 from them.'
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed Kokate's remarks inappropriate and stated that it is not suitable for ministers to speak in such a manner.
The new crop insurance scheme in Maharashtra is the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, which has replaced the earlier Re 1 crop insurance scheme.
