A video showing Maharashtra's Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate allegedly playing an online card game during an assembly session has sparked a political row, leading to protests and violence.

Manikrao Kokate is the Agriculture Minister of Maharashtra, a state in western India. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The controversy began when opposition MLA Rohit Pawar posted videos on social media platform X, alleging that Kokate was playing an online card game during an assembly session.
Kokate dismissed the allegations, explaining that an online gaming advertisement appeared on his phone while he was trying to monitor Lower House proceedings from the Upper House. He accused the opposition of selectively editing the footage.
At the NCP press conference in Latur, members of Chhava Sanghatna threw playing cards at NCP state president Sunil Tatkare, demanding Kokate’s resignation. The protest turned violent after Tatkare left the venue.
