Maharashtra Simplifies Property Registration: A Game-Changer for Homebuyers
Real Estate Maharashtra:In a move aimed at simplifying the property registration process, the Government of Maharashtra has consolidated all registration offices into two one for 'Mumbai City' and the other for 'Mumbai Suburban.' This decision is expected to bring about a significant reduction in the time and effort required to register properties in the state.

Prior to this consolidation, there were 32 joint sub-registrars situated in various locations across Mumbai, including Fort, Worli, Andheri, Kurla, and Borivali. This often led to confusion and inconvenience for homebuyers, who had to travel to specific locations to register their properties. However, with the new system in place, parties can now admit execution and register their documents at any office of the sub-registrar, regardless of where the property is situated.

This is a significant step forward for the real estate industry in Maharashtra, and is expected to boost the demand for properties in the state. According to Harsh Parikh, Partner at Khaitan & Co,
