Real Estate News:The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) is preparing to conduct the fifth edition of its online exam for real estate agents, with 5,260 candidates set to appear for the certification test on July 29. The exam will be held at 24 centres across the state. The candidates, who have completed their preliminary training in the real estate sector, will be tested on their knowledge of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act and other relevant regulations.

The candidates are from various regions of the state, including Mumbai Metropolitan Region (3,081), Pune (1,533), Nagpur (518), Nashik (40), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (28), Kolhapur (21), Sangli (20), Amravati (7), Jalgaon (7), and Nanded (5).

So far, the test has been held four times, with around 9,295 candidates clearing the exam. There are around 47,000 agents registered across Maharashtra, with 13,785 agents having their registration cancelled due to non-renewal. In April, MahaRERA suspended the registration of over 20,000 agents who failed to comply with the training and certification requirements by December 31, 2023.

MahaRERA Chairman Ajoy Mehta emphasized the importance of the certification, stating, 'An agent plays a crucial role for homebuyers and developers. It is imperative for them to be well-versed in the provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act.' Mehta added that agents are expected to have credible primary information about the developer and the project, land rights, RERA carpet area, project's commencement certificate, clearances from local authorities, developer's liabilities, and much more.
