MahaRERA Recovers Rs 369 Cr of Rs 1,038 Cr Compensation

MahaRERA has recovered Rs 369 crore against compensation orders worth Rs 1,038 crore issued to real estate developers. The recovery, however, has not yet translated into payouts for homebuyers, who continue to await refunds and compensation.
Recovery vs Compensation Orders
The recovered amount represents roughly 35% of the total compensation ordered by the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority. While the authority has stepped up enforcement, the gap between orders and actual recovery remains a concern for property buyers.
Why Payouts Are Delayed
Industry sources indicate that recovery from developers is often held up due to pending legal challenges, insolvency proceedings, and the slow monetisation of developer assets. As a result, even after MahaRERA orders compensation, the actual transfer of funds to homebuyers takes time.
Impact on Maharashtra Real Estate
The delay in compensation payouts adds to the uncertainty faced by homebuyers, particularly in stalled projects across Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. Timely recovery and disbursal are seen as crucial for restoring buyer confidence in the state's property market.
