The purpose of MHADA's amnesty scheme is to help housing societies in Mumbai and its suburbs obtain their long-pending Occupancy Certificates (OC) for redeveloped buildings, thereby alleviating financial burdens and ensuring smoother operations.
The amnesty scheme is expected to benefit approximately 80 housing societies in Mumbai and its suburbs.
The key benefits include a waiver of interest on the premium differential amount and a 75% waiver on penalties related to unauthorized construction or usage for buildings redeveloped under the 1991 Development Control Regulations.
The deadline for the amnesty scheme is April 10, 2025.
MHADA has introduced a policy reform wherein maintenance charges and property taxes for scattered housing units and plots will only be applicable from the date of possession, making the process more fair and transparent.
